What’s next for Archway Campus?
The Save Campus Joint Action Group – a coalition of the Highgate Society, local Archway and Highgate groups, and Archway residents – has submitted a detailed 45-page objection to the Seven Capital’s proposed Archway Campus scheme.
This document outlines how the current plans breach numerous national, London, and local planning policies and also includes photo montages of the visual impact of the tower on the surrounding area (pages 12 – 19). Furthermore, it highlights that the level of affordable housing promised is far lower than claimed and that 75% of the affordable housing is studios and 1 bed flats which does not meet the need for family housing
The objection also highlights that the developer had previously proposed a low-rise alternative without a tower, known as “Plan B,” which attracted more support from community.
What Can You Do to Help?
Islington Council has extended the consultation period, with the application scheduled to go to the Planning Committee in March. Your voice matters and here’s how to take action:
Submit Your Objection: Send your concerns to Islington Council using the planning reference P2024/2598/FUL.
Email your Haringey Councillors & GLA Member (if you are Haringey a resident)
- dacosta@haringey.gov.uk
- emery@haringey.gov.uk
- Isilar-Gosling@haringey.gov.uk
- mccartney@london.gov.uk
Email your Camden Councillors & GLA Member (if you are a Camden resident)
Write to our MP: Share your concerns with Tulip Siddiq at tulip.siddiq.mp@parliament.uk
Submit Objections to the GLA: The Greater London Authority is also consulting on this scheme, and your input is valuable.
Finally, there has been a recent consultation by Historic England to list the buildings on the site. If successful then Seven Capital would be forced to rethink the scheme. While the consultation period has just ended it is still worth submitting an email with your support. More information can be found here
