Update on the DPHN traffic proposals campaign
The Dartmouth Park Healthy Neighbourhood (DPHN) low traffic neighbourhood proposals are the biggest traffic change in a generation. Camden and Islington Councils have run a poor engagement process, and the scheme seems badly designed, risking traffic chaos and greater pollution. The scheme would shut off streets, pushing traffic into the congested Highgate area via Highgate Hill and West Hill. These proposals are not green or healthy, even for Dartmouth Park, and they affect a very wide area.
Drop-in session – Saturday 3 August 2.30-5 pm in 10A South Grove.
Many people have said it is very difficult to follow the proposals and we hope to have large scale maps available and several members of the team to try and help with questions.
Coming up – We plan to hold a public meeting in September with councillors and council officials. Look out for further information on our website and newsletter.
We want this to be an opportunity for an informed discussion where the Highgate area can have its say. Although this will be after the end of the consultation period for the current “co-design” phase, the next phase will be a formal consultation and the work of the Councils (and of course our campaign group) will be continuing. It’s still important to respond on this phase.
Street/area meetings – If your street or area would like to use our hall at 10A South Grove for its own meeting, please let us know.
What we need you to do:
1. Go to “Take Action Now” on www.dphnjointaction.com, please provide your comments by email to the addresses shown.
2. Complete the Councils’ online survey also shown on the “Take Action Now” link on www.dphnjointaction.com.
3. Sign our petition, and leave comments, which can be accessed here.
4. Please share this email with neighbours and friends right across the affected area and across Highgate.
Help us raise awareness
We are printing more A5 campaign flyers to distribute as widely as possible across Highgate. If you’re able to help with distribution of A5 campaign flyers door to door, please send an email to us at contact@dphnjointaction.com, letting us know which roads you can do and how many flyers you expect you need. We can then arrange to get these to you.
What else have we been doing? There have been letters in the papers. The main Highgate Society website content is here, and we have an article appearing in the Ham & High this week. We are posting more content on the campaign website www.dphnjointaction.com.
