Guerrilla gardeners hard at work in Archway Road and North Road
In Archway Road our gardeners have been working hard at turning the neglected planters into mini-gardens to delight all who walk along the road from Highgate towards Archway Bridge. Can you help with keeping them watered? If so, please get in touch.
Earlier, in May they tackled the green space next to Gonnermann’s shop near the Shepherds Hill junction. The paving was overgrown and it looked pretty messy when we arrived. Although we couldn’t get any plants in (and it wasn’t really needed), the group did an amazing job of clearing and weeding.
A couple of our gardeners tackled the reservation in the middle of North Road during the spring, clearing weeds and sowing wild-flower seeds. Sadly, we haven’t seen much grow, but have learned a lot and will be ready, earlier next year with more of a plan. That’s gardening for you!
We are looking for champions for other neglected sites around Highgate and would love to hear about progress on some of the sites we helped start up last year. We are here to help get things started, we have a map, so if you are keen to look after a green space near you but want some advice and motivation, get in touch.
