Owing to the introduction of Tier 2 restrictions in London the Society has had to suspend the Saturday coffee mornings until further notice.

Catherine West, MP for Hornsey & Wood Green, has launched a petition calling for a halt to redevelopment plans for the Highgate care home and revocation of the eviction notices served on the residents. For a link to the petition click More.

Highgate Festival 19th to 27th June
The Highgate Festival returns with a wide variety of live and online events. For the full programme and details of Festival offers visit the Festival web site https://highgatefestival.org/ where you can also sign up for programme updates or volunteer to help.

The Society is aware of the very difficult conditions for all businesses in the area as a result of the COVID pandemic coming on top of many existing challenges. Our Infrastructure and Projects Group ran an online business survey between 14 and 29 October 2020 and the summary report is now available. Click More for a link to the report.

While our Tidy up Events would still be permitted under Government guidance, in light of the Mayor of London’s recent announcement of a Major Incident, we are reluctantly cancelling the next Tidy up Event on Saturday 16 January. Thank you to all those who had said they would be able to attend and watch this space for our February event.

To accompany Ruth Hazeldine’s recent talk, there is a competition for original limericks on the subject of ‘Highgate and Highgate personalities’ or the current Covid-related situation. Prizes will be awarded for the three best entries. Click More for details of how to enter.

Come and listen to the Highgate and Muswell Hill Brass Band and  do some late night shopping in Highgate Village (shops will be staying open late).  Wednesday 9th December from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm. Please maintain social distancing and keep safe.

The North Hill roadworks have restarted and are expected to last until December. North Hill has reverted to one-way working.
