Highgate School planning application workshops
The Society has been working with the School to take forward plans for workshops to consider the School’s planning applications. These are now likely to take place in the New Year and we hope facilitated by the Prince’s Foundation.
One of the outcomes from the 8th June public meeting organised by the Society was a plan agreed with Highgate School for a series of workshops to consider in depth the School’s development plans. See https://highgatesociety.com/highgate-school-plans-public-meeting-report/ for our report on the public meeting, and a July report at https://highgatesociety.com/highgate-school-plans-what-next/ about the next stages. Since then we have been working with local resident groups including the Highgate Conservation Area Advisory Committee, Highgate Neighbourhood Forum, Southwood Lane Residents Association and Broadlands Road Residents Association to take forward the workshop planning in consultation with the School. On some aspects there is concern that information provided in the planning applications is inadequate so in August we sent questions and information requests to the School to address these gaps.
The Prince’s Foundation had impressed during the drafting of the neighbourhood plan and so we proposed them as independent facilitators for these workshops, and are very pleased that discussions are moving forward with the Foundation. We had a Zoom call on 25th October and the School has also had discussions with the Foundation.
There are several details that still need to be agreed, but broadly it is expected that during November and December the Foundation will undertake a number of preliminary conversations with each of the resident groups, the School and Haringey planners to discuss the process and expectations for the workshops. This will then lead to scoping of the work involved for the workshops – these will then take place in the New Year, starting with baseline briefings covering the main overall issues. Once the workshops have been held the outcome will be documented, as agreed next steps and a write up of the conclusions.
