The Fair in the Square – Highgate’s annual `village fair in the heart of London` – will be bringing together the local community again for a fun packed afternoon in Pond Square on Saturday 10 June.
The Fair in the Square is a free event for the benefit of the neighbourhood run by volunteers who strive to make sure there’s something for everyone, and with attractions and activities that don’t involve spending. These include a Dog Show, circus acts from Jacksons Lane, roving stiltwalkers, a full programme of live music and dancing performances on the Pond Square stage and a Steel Band marking this year’s 75th anniversary of the Windrush.
To entertain and engage the children there are fair rides, musical and creative activities run by Mini Mozart Music School in the Kids Tent and a fire engine Kentish Town Fire Station. St Michael’s Choir will also be performing inside the Church, which will also be running its Café serving tea and home baked cakes and its Tower Tours. This involves a 52 step climb up the Church tower to gain one the most stunning views over London.
Over 100 stalls will line Pond Square and South Grove selling a wide variety of world food, crafts, plants, books and clothes, and include the Pimms Stall following its very popular introduction last year . The majority of stalls are run by local charities, societies and businesses; thus The Fair gives them an ideal showcase to the thousands who gather in Highgate that day who in turn enjoy the opportunity to explore all the activities they can get involved in, from the arts to beekeeping, volunteering, horticulture or sporting.
