Dartmouth Park Healthy Neighbourhood (DPHN) Traffic Proposals Update
On 8th July, Camden and Islington Councils released traffic proposals affecting a wide area, including parts of Highgate Village, Archway, and Kentish Town. The initial consultation phase ended on 18th August, coinciding with the holiday period, which resulted in limited engagement. Despite Highgate Society organising a petition that gathered over 3,000 signatures, Camden Council declined to extend this period.
The Councils are currently reviewing the feedback. If they decide to proceed, revised proposals will be released, followed by a minimum 4-week consultation. Subsequently, an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO) may be issued, allowing changes to take effect for up to 18 months, with the first 6 months serving as a consultation period.
The Highgate Society has been actively involved, hosting a public meeting on 3rd September attended by local councillors and over 225 residents. We are commissioning traffic consultants to collect missing data and provide independent analysis. The petition will be discussed at Camden Council’s Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee on 11th November, and we’ll make a presentation to highlight local concerns.
The DPHN Joint Action website, managed by the Highgate Society on behalf of 14 supporting organisations, continues to share updates and resources, including Freedom of Information feedback, and a recording of the public meeting.
