General Manager from 1998 and Director since 2016, Katherine Ives has had a key role in the ‘modern’ evolution of Lauderdale House and done nearly every job there is to do! In this talk she’ll provide some insights into its journey from a ‘down at heel’ shabby building hiding its heritage, to the sparkling and beautiful house it is today overtly showcasing its rich history. She’ll let you into a few secrets, tell you a few stories, unwrap the huge range of things Lauderdale is involved in – and explain how it works, the nuts the bolts, the funding and how no one day is ever the same. One moment she could be helping the woman who’s rung the doorbell because a squirrel has bitten her finger; another opening a cheque for a £50,000 donation; welcoming a musician like John Etheridge; covering a wedding, party or funeral showround or supporting the youth group. It’s never boring, which is why she is still here!
