John Plews, together with partner Katie, ran the Highgate venue ‘Upstairs at the Gatehouse’ for 26 years from 1997 to 2023. Turning a derelict Victorian music hall into an award winning pub theatre gave the village a memorable performance space which has now become a permanent feature of the north London arts scene.
