Highgate

Time: 10 am, Saturday 4th August

Place: Priory Gardens exit of Highgate underground station

Duration: An hour with the option to carry on for longer if anyone has the energy! Others may wish to retreat to Highgate Society HQ at 10A South Grove for tea/coffee/biscuits.

Purpose: litter tidy up on path between Priory Gardens and Archway road plus (if time allows) the path between Priory Gardens and Shepherds Hill. Note that our request for access to the land behind the fences on the path between Priory Gardens and Archway road is still with TFL so we will be sticking to the paths.  If time allows we can tackle other areas.

Equipment: I have 15 litter picker sticks, lots of light gloves and rubbish bags. Please bring your own litter picker if you have one. Buckets are also useful as an alternative to keeping litter bags open. Bring a mobile phone if you have one.

Safety: I’ll give a short briefing at the start. Key things to avoid when picking up litter are bending down in a way that will hurt backs or knees and picking up anything sharp or dangerous. Mind also where you walk so you don’t slip or put yourself at danger from traffic. If gloves or hands get dirty avoid contact with eyes etc. I’ll have a small first aid kit. Finally stick with others so there is someone to help if needed.
