Annual General Meeting
2021
Tuesday 18th May 2021
7.30 pm on Zoom
The Society’s AGM has usually been an entertaining and social event, as well as a formal part of running the Society. Last year we had to cancel the AGM as the Covid-19 restrictions came into force. This year, with Covid still a limitation, we propose to hold an AGM online. For members who are unable to join us online, there are separate arrangements outlined below.
We will as usual have a guest speaker. This year, John Plews will talk about life in the theatre, the history of Upstairs at the Gatehouse, how the theatre copes with Covid and anything else that occurs to him or to any questioner. The talk will be followed by the formal AGM, beginning as usual with the Chair’s annual report from Elspeth Clements. Elspeth will be standing down this year, after three years’ tenure of the chair.
Unfortunately we will not have the excellent refreshments normally provided by the Social Events Committee members, but we hope to be back to a more normal format from next year.
The formal notice and agenda can be viewed here. To register for the meeting click here.
We recognise that there are several members who cannot participate in an online meeting. For those for whom we don’t have an email address, we will include a proxy attendance form with the membership renewal mailing in April, including details of how to make your views known. If it is possible to arrange a venue for a limited number of members to attend, we will do so, but our assumption is that the majority, if not all, of members attending will have to be online.
A full report of the AGM will as usual be published in the Summer issue of buzz.
