Volunteering
Interested to volunteer with the Highgate Society?
Volunteering can offer so much. Maybe you’ve always wanted to edit a magazine, run a newsletter or website? So long as what you are interested in would be making Highgate a Better Place to Live and Work, the possibilities are almost endless. You could get started by joining the rota to serve at our Saturday Coffee Mornings, or delivering buzz magazine in your street. But, whatever it is we will always be driven by what you want to do. We pride ourselves on being a supportive a friendly organisation and know people have other commitments in their lives so it’s your choice how much you get involved.
Some examples of areas where we are looking for volunteers are below, but there are many more and our website will give you a sense of the range of our activities.
Volunteering in Highgate

Guerrilla gardening update
Our Guerrilla Gardening group has been busy with planning for 2024 since our evening workshop in November. Volunteers wanted to help with AV equipment
The Society is looking for volunteers to help set up and operate audio-visual equipment for our evening talks and some events by hall hirers. If you might be interested in helping, contact it@highgatesociety.com for more information on what it involves.
Marketing and publicity
Communicating our message to residents, members and our local authorities is essential. Can you help contribute to our strategy, posting on social media for us, or helping with our newsletter or website?
Campaigning and influencing
Closely connected with Marketing and Publicity. Much of what we aim to achieve involves understanding the issues that matter locally, gathering public support and communicating the issues to our local authorities and others. Are there particular issues that you are motivated about where the Highgate Society can lend its support? Current active campaigns include: The High Street and Old Bus Stand.
Caring for the hall
Our friendly and welcoming volunteers look after the hall and support each other to make sure it is spick and span for our community. Can you help by joining the team?
Whatever you choose to do, we will help you get started.
If you’re interested in helping, please get in touch using our contact page, or by coming to our Saturday Coffee morning between 10.30 and 12.00.
