Airscape pollution monitoring launched in Camden

With the launch of the Beta version of the Airscape air quality sensor network in Camden on 28 April you can now access data from the 225 sensors round the Borough, including ones on Highgate Hill, Pond Square and Hampstead Lane. They measure small and larger particulates, ozone and NO2, with an overall figure for air quality. For the first time anywhere in the world there is now a network dense enough to enable anyone to find out what the air quality is where they intend to travel, so they can adjust their journey – decide whether it is a good day for a run or a walk, and where to go.

If you visit airscape.ai you can use the map to get detailed information on air quality all round the Camden part of Highgate. Airlabs are keen to get all your comments – which can be made direct from their site – so they can make improvements before the press launch in about a month’s time.

Of course this does not help people living in Haringey or Islington, particularly those near the most polluted road in Highgate: Archway Road. The Society is keen to see this initiative expanded to other boroughs too.
