Architect Alan Cox describes how a totally ruined 18th Century mansion was brought back to life without any initial funding. Alan will explain each stage in the process over a 40 year period – covering a successful nine year campaign against developers, the difficulties in borrowing the finance to purchase the 27 acre overgrown site, the issues involved in repaying the loans, the gradual careful restoration of the mansion and gardens, the support of volunteers and the assembly of appropriate educational, cultural and community uses – resulting today in a thriving enterprise.
